State of Nevada Settles $250,000 Civil Rights Lawsuit over Protest

Writer: Adam BreedenAdam Breeden

In February of 2023 the State of Nevada settled a civil rights lawsuit against it for $250,000. Plaintiff alleged her civil rights were violated in 2020 during Black Lives Matter/George Floyd protests in Reno, Nevada. The suit alleged that the Plaintiff was wearing wearing a blue vest reading “ACLU Legal Observer” but was struck by indiscriminate firing of rubber bullets which was excessive force in violation of her civil rights. Although NevadaCivilRights.com did not represent this Plaintiff, the result is fair and puts law enforcement on notice that First Amendment rights to assemble cannot be infringed and there will be consequences if that occurs.
